LSHTM Visit to Malawi Strengthens Collaboration on FGS Research
Project Coordinator Professor Amaya Bustinduy and Dr Bilal Djeghout from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) recently visited the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Research Programme in Malawi as part of ongoing collaborative efforts to address Female Genital Schistosomiasis (FGS).
During the visit, the LSHTM team met with consortium partners and engaged closely with clinical, laboratory, and field teams to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and align on research priorities.
As part of the programme, Bilal, a Research Fellow in the team of Amaya Bustinduy at LSHTM, delivered hands on training on a field friendly, community based molecular diagnostic approach for FGS. This contributes to ongoing efforts to improve accessible and accurate detection of FGS in endemic settings.
